The Salvation Army Southern Nevada has reopened their Day Shelter and Cooling Station. The facility, located at 35 W. Owens Avenue, will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily.

Most of us know we live in a portion of the Mojave Desert, and it's relatively easy for us to stay cool. We jump in our cars, crank the air conditioner, and then when we get home, we can ratchet up the A-C there too. But for the thousands of homeless people, July and August can literally be deadly.
