LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) announced that there will be a pilot car operation in both directions along Kyle Canyon Road (State Route 157) from the Mount Charleston Lodge parking lot, 5375 Kyle Canyon Road, to U.S. Highway 95 in northwest Las Vegas from 6 a.m.. until 1 p.m.., April 28, due to the annual Revel Mt. Charleston marathon. Motorists should expect up to 20-minute delays, as a result. Additionally, Oso Blanco Road will be closed to all traffic from Gilcrease Avenue to Kyle Canyon Road during the same time frame. About 1,400 participants are expected for the full marathon with an additional 2,400 runners for the half marathon. For a complete marathon course, go to:

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone, watch for construction signs, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit or call 511 before driving.

Also NDOT is upgrading a 17-mile section of north and south bound U.S. Highway 93 through Alamo in Lincoln County from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, May 7-9. Maintenance crews will be applying a chip seal over the existing pavement between Mile Markers 23 and 40. Two pilot cars will safely escort motorists through the work zone, resulting in possible travel delays. Chip seal is a gravel and liquid asphalt coating that creates a smoother, safer and more durable roadway driving surface.
