LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT)- 300 people will need to find new jobs after an announcement yesterday from Unilever that a Henderson ice cream manufacturing plant owned by the company will be closing.

The plant, located near Lake Mead and lake Las Vegas Parkways, will be closing at the end of August. No word was given as to why the plant is being closed, just that the manufacturing operations will be absorbed by other plants throughout the country.

The 300 displaced workers will get help finding a job from the city. Henderson is working with the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation activate its Rapid Response program, which provides employees with job search assistance, career counseling and job training. Workers will also have access to placement services, as well.

The plant produces a variety of frozen favorites from Ben & Jerry's, Magnum, Popsicle, Klondike and Breyers.
