LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - A third suspect has been arrested in the murder of a California doctor whose body was found in a desert area east of Las Vegas last month.

Jon Kennison, 27, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center Wednesday night, charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of 71-year-old Dr. Thomas Burchard. Burchard’s body was discovered in the trunk of a car on State Route 147 east of the Valley on March 7. The coroner ruled Burchard’s death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

The owner of the car where Burchard was discovered, 25 year- old Kelsey Turner, was arrested in March in Stockton, California, and extradited back to Clark County last week. A second woman thought to be involved, 30 year-old Diana Pena, was taken into custody last weekend after turning herself in to police. The two women face the same murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges as Kennison.

Police say that Burchard had traveled to Las Vegas on March 1 to see Turner, with whom he was reportedly having an intimate relationship. According to Burchard’s long-time girlfriend in California, Burchard had been paying rent for Turner’s apartment.

Kennison’s next court appearance in set for Friday. Pena, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, will next appear in court on April 30. Turner has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 3rd.
