With hospitals preparing for the worst and medical professionals already stretched thin, the private sector is stepping up its charitable efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus in Las Vegas.

Wynn Resorts, which operates Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Las Vegas, announced that it would donate 240,000 N95 equivalent, CDC approved, respirator masks; as well as 600,000 surgical masks, 500,000 pairs of gloves, and thousands of medical gowns to hospitals throughout the city.

The donations will allow doctors, nurses, and support staff to replenish their supply stock, so they will not have to reuse masks and gloves while treating COVID-19 patients, and those who aren’t infected but still require hospitalization.

Additionally, Wynn Resorts is donating 175 pallets of food to 15 Las Vegas-area food banks.

With the Las Vegas Strip effectively closed for business, resorts have been liquidating their food stock in order to feed employees and other families who are stuck at home during the crisis.
