LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - One person was killed Tuesday afternoon after a shooting involving Las Vegas Metro Police on the valley's east side.

Just before 2pm, a Metro Patrol Officer noticed a four- door sedan driving erratically on I-15 near the Charleston exit. A record check of the plate revealed the plate had been stolen.

The LVMPD Air Unit continued monitoring the vehicle as it continued to drive erratically through multiple parts of the city.

At approximately 3:05 p.m., the vehicle came to a stop in the area of Twain and Paradise. The suspect exited the vehicle holding a firearm and attempted to carjack another person Officers who were monitoring, and following nearby, immediately engaged the suspect. The officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect.

The suspect was transported to Sunrise hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

This is the fifth officer involved shooting of 2020. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
