LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - $27 million will be heading to the Nevada Department of Transportation for a freeway project.

The funding will allow the department to underwrite the Interstate 15-215 Northern Beltway interchange project in North Las Vegas.

It will include designing new ramps, flyovers and street connections to complete a system where the I-15 meets the 215 Northern Beltway,  including adding Interstate 15 southbound ramps for the Tropical Parkway interchange. Other work entails reconstructing portions of Centennial Parkway and Tropical Parkway, plus widening a small portion the 215 Beltway.

“In the last 16 years, we have been able to secure more than $245 million in additional obligation authority and funds for use on vital Nevada transportation projects,” said NDOT Director Kristina Swallow explained. “This is a demonstration of putting more federal dollars to work here in Nevada, and I thank our financial management staff for their work in ensuring that the state continually utilizes all funding available for important transportation projects.”

Construction is scheduled to start before the end of this year and is expected to be completed by the year 2022.
