Metro investigating fatal officer-involved shooting

Detectives were following up on a shooting earlier in the day

Las Vegas, (NV) - Metro Police are investigating their 17th officer-invovled shooting of 2020.

Late Tuesday night, detectives responded to a convenience store located in the 2500 block of North Pecos Road to follow up on a shooting that took place earlier in the day. Detectives received information that the suspect was working at the business.

Upon arriving, officers observed the suspect in the convenience store and immediately gave him verbal commands which he initially obeyed. Suddenly, the suspect turned and pulled a handgun from his waistband. Officers fired striking the suspect several times. Medical personnel responded, but the suspect was dead at the scene.

Per Metro Police policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours. They're currently on paid admisitrative leave
