The community-based program began with residents leaving their porch lights on as a sign of neighborhood unity. It grew into a national program that brings together police, neighborhood watch groups and businesses to:
• Increase crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for local anti-crime programs; and
• Educate community members about protecting their neighborhoods.
