LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will partner with neighbors from around the Las Vegas Valley on Tuesday, October 1 to host National Night Out.

The community-based program began with residents leaving their porch lights on as a sign of neighborhood unity. It grew into a national program that brings together police, neighborhood watch groups and businesses to:

• Increase crime and drug prevention awareness;

• Generate support for local anti-crime programs; and

• Educate community members about protecting their neighborhoods.
