LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Las Vegas Sands has announced that it will be donating two million surgical masks and 20,000 protective suits to help health-care professionals, first responders and nonprofit organizations in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Surgical mask donations will be distributed in Nevada as well as New York, which has become the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the United States.

Each state will receive one million masks. The 20,000 protective suits will remain in Nevada and be donated to hospitals and first responders.

This contribution marks the second round of personal protective gear donations Sands has made to the Las Vegas community. The company previously provided 100,000 masks to the Las Vegas health-care community and 5,000 masks to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. It also donated 1,900 coronavirus test kits to the state of Nevada.

In addition, in an effort to assist the employees of several third-party restaurants that partner with The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas Sands has announced a new program to cover emergency pay for approximately 1,200 employees of several partner restaurants during the current COVID19-related shutdown.

For 14 restaurants that partner with The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas Sands will cover payroll costs during the current shutdown of each restaurant’s salaried employees and a weekly stipend for hourly and part time employees. Las Vegas Sands partners with several renowned restaurant companies to bring our world-class dining experience to The Venetian Resort.

As part of these partnerships, the restaurants are managed independently from The Venetian Resort and employ their own staff.
