LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Las Vegas Fire and Rescue battled two house fires on Thursday night.

Just after 8pm, crews responded to a house at 916 Balzar Ave to find flames coming out a bedroom window on the rear of a one story duplex.

There was also an elderly man lying on the ground in front of the duplex. Someone told dispatchers that the man was pulled from the duplex during the fire.

In less than 15 minutes firefighters had the fire extinguished. The fire caused damage to one apartment of the duplex. Damage was estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators want to talk to the occupant before making a determination. The occupant is in the hospital with non-life threatening smoke inhalation.

Two adults are displaced due to the fire, and the American Red Cross is assisting them.

Shortly afterward, reports came in of several palm trees on fire that spread to a house on N. 19th Street. Firefighters had the fire out in less than ten minutes. Several palm trees were destroyed by the fire and there was approximately $5000 damage to the house, mostly on the outside.

What started the fire could not be determined. There were no injuries reported during the incident.
