LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The Nevada Department Of Motor Vehicles has extended the deadline date for drivers to renew expired documents.

Any driver's license or other DMV-issued document with an expiration date between March 12 and July 15, 2020, has been extended through September 13.

The extension does not apply to vehicle liability insurance or SR-22 requirements.

The DMV recommends that you print and carry an extension letter that can be presented to law enforcement should the need arise.

The expiration date on your driver’s license or other document will not change. The extension is a grace period to allow for the continued use of expired documents during the State of Emergency.

Currently, the agency is serving only customers with appointments at the offices in Carson City, Henderson, Las Vegas and Reno. Walk-in customers will be directed to online services, kiosks or scheduled for an appointment as appropriate.

Rural offices are walk-in based but serve customers from the local area only.
