LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT)- Rarely does a day go by where there's not some sort of musical event to attend in Las Vegas, and a new survey reflects that abundance.

The website move.org is out with a survey of the "Best Cities For People Who Like Live Music" and Las Vegas comes in at number 5.

Factored into the rankings are a city's population, number of music venues, and number of music venues per 100,00 people.

According to move.org, Las Vegas has 854 music venues, or 38.3 venues per 100,000 people. Not bad, but not as good as the top 4 cities on the list: Austin, Texas, San Diego, San Jose and New Orleans.

Rounding out the Top 10 after Las Vegas were San Francisco, Portland, Honolulu, Raleigh and Denver.

Move.org gathered information by searching Yelp for music venues in the 70 most populated US metro areas. Other criteria, like a city’s musical diversity, number of live shows per day, or musical history were not used as ranking factors.

Since the rankings are based on relative numbers of venues instead of actual numbers of venues, cities like New York and Los Angeles (which both have thousands of venues) are ranked lower than smaller cities because of their immense populations.
