LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Metro Police are investigating a pair of fatal auto-pedestrian accidents from Monday night.

The first was a hit and run that happened near Tropicana and Nellis just after 8pm. The SUV that struck the pedestrian fled the scene. Police say it was a red or orange SUV, perhaps a Chevy Tahoe.

The victim, identified only as a 15-year-old-boy, was in a marked crosswalk when he was hit. He was transported to the hospital but died from their injuries.

The driver in that incident originally fled the scene but later turned herself into police. She's identified as 34-year-old Crystal Helm of Las Vegas.

Helm was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

The second incident happened near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway around 10pm.

Police say a woman was outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by a tractor-trailer near Las Vegas Boulevard and Hollywood. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the driver of the tractor trailer stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities. Imapirment isn't thought to be a factor in that accident.
