To No One's Surprise, Nevada Takes "Most Sinful State" Crown

Southern States More Likely To Sin Than Northern Ones

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - To the surprise of absolutely no one, the state that contains Sin City is the most sinful of all.

That's the opinion of the folks at the financial website WalletHub, anyway.

WalletHub compared the 50 states across 47 key indicators of immorality, ranging from violent crimes per capita to excessive drinking to share of the population with gambling disorders. 

While it was a close finish, Nevada found itself at the top of the "Most Sinful" list. Among the top 4 indexes, the Sinful, er, Silver State was ranked #1 in Greed, #3 in Jealousy (Georgia was #1 there), #6 in Excesses and Vices (Kentucky topped that list) and #9 in Anger and Hatred (lots of anger in Arkansas, apparantly as that state was #1 here)

Surprisingly (or maybe not) we had to fend off Texas for the top spot, followed by Florida, California, and Georgia.

WalletHub found southern states to be much more sinful than northern ones. In fact the top five Least Sinful states have one thing in common: Cold weather.
