LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A man arrested in a possible road rage shooting on I-15 Tuesday night is a wanted man in another state.

Police have identified the man as 21 year old Dwight Delancy.  Delancy faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a gun into an occupied structure/vehicle or craft and discharging a gun within a structure/vehicle within a prohibited area.

The incident began around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon when police say Delancy tried to cut off another driver on Blue Damond near I-15.

As the two cars got on the 15 North collector-distributor road that runs along I-15, more attempts were made by Delancyto cut off the driver, who turned out to be an off-duty Metro cop.

Police then say Delancy pulled up alongside the off duty officer and fired several shots into his vehicle.

After the shooting, investigators say Delancy attempted to flee but got caught in afternoon rush hour traffic and rear ended another car.

NHP responded to the scene and, when informed of the shooting, was able to help take Delancy down.

The off-duty Metro cop wasn't hurt. No one was wounded by the gunfire.

The 15 North collector-distributor road between 215 and Russell was closed for several hours for investigation
