Small Stretch of 95 South Closing Tonight

"Pave-A Palooza" Work For Project Neon The Reason

June 06, 2019 - 7:25 am

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Project Neon, the largest road construction project even undertaken in Nevada, is oh-so-close to completion, but major closures continue to affect drivers. Tonight's closure focuses on 95S.

Between 9pm and 5am, 95S will be closed between MLK and Las Vegas Blvd for what NDOT calls "Pave-A-Palooza". The northbound side of U.S. 95 in the area had been closed for similar work on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

During the overnight hours as well, drivers won't be able to connect to 95S from either side of I-15 or from the MLK onramp. Also, the connector from 95S to 15N will be closed. Drivers can exit 95S at MLK, take that north to Bonanza and Bonanza east to Las Vegas Boulevard. From there, it's south on Las Vegas Boulevard to re-connect with 95S.

An even bigger closure looms for the weekend.

This weekend, 15S will be completely shut down between D Street and Sahara, also for Project Neon paving work. That closure is scheduled to begin Friday night at 9, with completion expected by Monday morning at 5.

Project Neon is the widening of I-15 between the Spaghetti Bowl and Sahara. Work is 96 percent done, with full completion scheduled for late this summer
