Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Passenger traffic at McCarran International Airport dipped slightly in September versus August.

New numbers released Thursday by the Clark County Aviation Department showed 1.7 million people used the airport last month. In august, it was 1.73. September numbers were off 61 percent from September of 2019. Overall passenger traffic is off 55% in 2020 compared to 2019.

A slight drop in the monthly number wasn't completely unexpected, with September meaning the end of the summer vacation season, such as that was.

Continuing to hurt the overall number is the near complete lack of international travel. Only 13,000 international passengers used the airport in September, a 95% drop from September of 2019. For the year, international travel is off 75%

Southwest Airlines remains by far the busiest carrier at McCarran, followed by Spirit, American, Frontier and Delta.
