LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT)- Travelers using McCarran Airport's parking facilities may soon have to shell out a little bit more for the privilege.

The Department of Aviation will ask the Clark County Commission next week to raise parking fees. Fees haven't gone up since 2013.

If approved, the new rates would be the following,

Long term parking garage (all terminals): Will increase $2, going from $16 to $18.

Valet (all terminals): Prices set to jump from $23 to $30.

Economy lot: Increasing from $10 to $12.

Impound rates: If a vehicle is impounded at McCarran, daily rates are jumping from $10 to $50.

Parking in short term garages at all terminals ($36 daily rate) and the remote lot ($15 daily rate) will not be changed.

If there's some good news it's that the new, higher rates wouldn't go into effect until February 3rd, so it won't affect your holiday travel pocketbook.

Revenue generated from parking goes toward transportation improvements and operating costs.
