LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Both parents of a one-year-old boy who was killed in a crash that investigators say was caused by impairment and excess speed missed their scheduled court appearances on Thursday.

Both Lauren Prescia and Cameron Hubbard-Jones missed court due to medical issues

The crash happened Sunday night at Lake Mead and Rampart. Police say Prescia and Hubbard-Jones were racing home to make a custody swap of the boy when the car driven by Precia crashed into another car. The force of that crash sent the car into a sign, severing the car in half. The boy was in the back seat, and died at the scene.

Police say the car Presica was driving was going over 120mph at the time of the crash.

Prescia faces a host of charges while Jones was arrested for reckless driving involving the death of a juvenile.

The driver of the car that Prescia struck was hospitalized with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

During a second court appearance on Wednesday, Prescia's public defender removed himself from the case, citing a conflict. A new public defender was appointed.

Both Prescia and Hubbard-Jones are due back in court on Monday.
