LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - One of two children who were hit by a pickup truck as they left school on Friday afternoon has died.

The 12-year-old boy died at University Medical Center Monday afternoon.

The boy and his nine-year-old sister were hit by a black pickup truck on Lone Mountain Road, while they were walking in a crosswalk after leaving nearby Somerset Academy for the day.

Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The status of the girl is unknown.

The driver of the pickup, Mark Kline, was arrested on charges of failing to use care around pedestrians. Kline now faces charges of vehicular manslaughter.

Police say that Kline wasn't impaired, but say distracted driving was definitely a factor.

A Go Fund Me account has been established for the family and can be seen here.
