Roadway deaths in Vegas approaching 100 for 2020

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - One person was killed in a two car wreck in the northwest part of the valley on Monday night.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police, the drvier of a Nissan Titan pickup was travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Tenaya approaching Lake Mead when the truck slammed into the back on an Audi that was making a u-turn.

The force of the crash sent the truck into a light pole and a brick wall. The 39 year old driver of the Nissan was taken to Mountain View hospital but died from his injuries. His name hasn't yet been released.

Police say there were 4 people in the Audi, including a 3-month-old. The baby wasn't hurt, but the adult occupants were taken to University Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries. 

Police don't believe that impairment was a factor in the crash, but the accident remains under investigation.

it's the 92nd traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction so far in 2020.
