LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The officers involved in the shooting death of a woman who was in a dispute with her 7 year-old son have been identified.

The two involved in the Monday shooting have been identified as Officer Edward Little and Officer Patrick McCarrick.

Officer Little has been employed with the Henderson Police Department since March of 2008 and is currently assigned to the Field Operations Bureau. Officer McCarrick has been employed with the Henderson Police Department since January of 2016. Both officers are currently assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.

The shooting happened Monday at the Equestrian Apartments on Eastern and Horizon Ridge.

Multiple emergency responders responded to the scene after getting a 911 call from the residence. That call disconnected without operators having a chance to talk to the caller.

Once on scene, police encountered the woman, identified as 37 year old Claudia Nadia Rodriguez, and her 7 year old son in some sort of physical altercation. One of the officers fired a shot, striking Rodriguez. She was taken to U.M.C., but died from the wounds.

The boy underwent emergency surgery at U.M.C. for multiple stab wounds and is expected to make a full recovery.

What led to the disturbance still isn't known as police continue their investigation.

Little and McCarrick are currently on routine paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

The shooting was the 4th involving Henderson Police so far in 2019.
