Officers Had Just Pulled Over An Erratic Driver

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - An officer-involved shooting northeast of the valley left one man dead Wednesday night.

It all began when an unmarked Las Vegas Metro Police gang unit vehicle attempted to pull over an erratic driver near I-15 and Cheyenne.

The pursuit continued until the vehicle took the Apex Power Parkway exit. Police say that after the vehicle exited the freeway and pulled over, the driver got out and produced a gun. Metro then fired shots.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital but died from his wounds. No police officers were hurt.

As is standard procedure, the officers involved will be put on paid adminisdtrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

The incident is the 6th officer-involved shooting for Metro so far in 2020.
