Nevada Makes Strong Showing In "Most Diverse States" Survey

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT)- If diversity is our strength, Nevada's a pretty strong state.

A new survery is out from the financial webste WalletHub that ranks the Most Diverse States and Nevada comes in ranked #9.

To determine where the most idea and identity exchanges have occurred at the highest level in the U.S. — and where the population is relatively more homogeneous — WalletHub compared the 50 states across six key categories: socio-economic, cultural, economic, household, religious and political diversity.

Nevada came out on top in the "Birthplace Diversity" category, and had strong rankings in "Race and Ethnic Diversity" (3rd), "Marital-Status Diversity" (4th), "Household-Type Diversity" (5th) and "Household-Size Diversity" (7th). The Silver State struggled in the rankings for "Least Industry Diversity" (46th), "Socio-economic Diversity" (29th) and "Income Diversity" (28th)

States in the southwest fared best in the survey, topped by California. Texas, New Mexico, Nevada and Arizona were all in the top 15.

States rankes as least diverse? At the bottom was West Virginia, followed by Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Montana.
