LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Nevada was the fastest growing state by population percentage in 2018 and we can thank California for that.

Or we can blame California, if you prefer.

New numbers released by the U.S. Census Bureau that covers the time between July of 2017 and July of 2018 show that more people move to Nevada from California than from any other state.

40 percent of the estimated 128,000 new Nevada residents came from the Golden State, primarily attracted by Nevada’s lower cost of living.

Utah, Arizona, Texas and Washington were the other states ranking in the Top 5 for moves from there to here.

Conversely, the Census Bureau says that more Nevadans move to California than to any other state, though that number is dropping. Those moving from Nevada to California are attracted by more specialized, higher paying jobs for skilled workers.

One other interesting fact from the Census Bureau: There are more people living in Nevada that were born in California than were born in Nevada.
