Metro Makes Arrest In Weekend Murder

Shooting Happened Close To Where Suspect Was Taken Into Custody

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT)- Metro Police have made an arrest for a murder that occured last Friday on the Valley's east side.

19-year-old Daniel Lopez-Jauregi was taken into custody near the 4700 block of Corsaire Avenue, near Craig and Lamb, and taken to the Cark County Detention Center where he faces one count of open murder.

Police say that back on Friday afternoon, ShotSpotter technology detected gunfire in the 4700 block of Thunderbolt Avenue, not far from where Lopez-Jauregi was arrested. 

Arriving officers contacted residents in the area who observed a Ford Mustang flee at a high rate of speed.

Officers located the Ford Mustang in the parking lot of a convenience store located at Craig and Puebla Street. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel responded and transported the victim to UMC Trauma where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the victim was in his vehicle at the intersection of Thunderbolt Avenue and Vorsand Drive speaking with an unidentified male, later determine d to be Lopez-Jauregi. At some point they Lopez-Jauregi produced a handgun and fired at the victim striking him at least once.
