Metro asking for help to find abandoned baby's mom
Infant was found in apartment complex dumpster

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Metro Police have asked for the public’s help to find the mother of a newborn girl found crying in a trash bag at at the Silver Palms apartments at Lake Mead and Jones over the weekend. The baby, which was found with the umbilical cord still attached, is expected to survive.
Police are using every resource they can to find the mother.

"We don't know the circumstances that led her to leave the baby," Lt. Spencer noted.

A Metro spokesman reminded the public of a no-questions-asked “safe haven” law in Nevada that lets parents leave a child under 30 days old at a hospital, fire station or emergency care facility without facing arrest or prosecution.
