LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Passenger numbers at McCarran Airport continue to lag far behind 2019's figures due to COVID-19 restrictions, but if there's good news to be taken from the latest statistics, it was still a vast improvement than the numbers from April.

Figures released Monday by the Department of Aviation showed that in May a total of 391,712 passengers arrived or departed from McCarran. That compares to 4.6 million passengers seen in May 2019.

Despite the low numbers, there were some signs of recovery as May’s passenger count was up 157 percent over April’s 152,716 passengers. That figure was the lowest monthly passenger count in recent history.

Southwest Airlines was by far the busiest carrier, followed by American, Spirit, Frontier and Allegiant.
