Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Passenger traffic is starting to pick up at McCarran International Airport, but there's still a long way to go before pre-pandemic traveler levels are reached.

McCarran Airport saw 1.7 million passengers arrive and depart in August.

That’s up about 100 thousand from July, but still down 61 percent from August of 2019 where 4.4 million travelers came and went.

Southwest Airlines remains by far the busiest carrier, but they saw business drop 54 percent year to year. Southwest was followed by Spirit, American, Frontier and Delta.

International travel remained almost non-existent, down 97 percent from August of 2019, with just under 9,000 international travelers using the airport.
