Clark County Business License agents will step up enforcement of the governor’s directives regarding wearing face coverings, social distancing and regular sanitizing in local businesses this holiday weekend.

“Business owners have had some time to get face coverings for their employees and adjust their operations to be in compliance with the new safety requirements,” Commission Chairman Marilyn Kirkpatrick said. “Now we expect everyone to follow the new regulations, and those who continue not to might be fined or shut down. We all need to do our part to limit the spread of the coronavirus so we can keep our businesses open. Wearing a face covering, social distancing and washing your hands and frequently touched surfaces are easy things we can all do that will significantly reduce the spread of the virus.”

The County Department of Business License has been focused on educating businesses and helping them comply with the new safety requirements, but now businesses are expected to be familiar with them and follow them.

Beginning tomorrow, businesses in unincorporated Clark County that are not in compliance with the new safety requirements may be given a written warning, a fine, citation, or have their business license suspended and immediately closed.

County staff will be visiting businesses Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 3-5). They will be going to all types of businesses including pools, bars, restaurants and retail stores.

The County Business License Department has jurisdiction over businesses within unincorporated Clark County, which includes the Strip, most of the southwest valley, and many smaller areas in the urban area. The cities have their own business license agencies.

Residents wishing to file a complaints about a business in unincorporated Clark County may email or call (702) 455-6562.
