Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Citing a lack of overall demand, MGM Resorts International says it will be closing the hotel portions of Mandalay Bay and Mirage midweek through late December.

Beginning Monday, November 30th, both the Mandalay Bay and Mirage will close their hotel portions between noon Monday and noon Thursday. All hotel amenities will remain open 24/7.

The move is similar to what’s already been done at the Park MGM, Encore, the Rio and Planet Hollywood.

"While we do not currently expect the mid-week hotel closures to remain past December, we will continue evaluating business levels to determine how long they are in effect," MGM said in its statement.

MGM says the midweek closure isn’t expected to last past the beginning of the year
