Man Shot, Killed After Altercation With NLVPD

Police Were Responding To A Domestic Dispute Call

LAS VEGAS, NV (NV) - One man is dead following a shooting involving North Las Vegas Police Thursday morning.

Police were called to an apartment complex at Carey and North 5th to escort a woman back home after she reported that she had been abused by her boyfriend. When they got to the residence, police say the boyfriend at first was verbally abusive, then psysically so.

At one point, police say the boyfriend had one of the officers in a headlock.

Once the officer was able to break free, he drew his gun and shot the man in the chest.

The boyfriend, who has not yet been identified, was transported to the hospital but died from his wounds. Neither the officers nor the woman who called police were seriously hurt.

The officers involved are on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
