Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A 27 year old man has been arrested on child abuse charges after his 22 month old daughter died in a hot car Monday afternoon.

According to Sidney Deal's arrest report, he flagged down a patrol unit near Owens and H Street and said he accidentally locked his keys in the car and left it running while the girl was inside. Deal says he thought he left the air conditioning running.

Deal’s brother said he wanted to break the car window to rescue the girls, but Sydney Deal refused because the car was new.

The report also details that Deal’s girlfriend told police that she spent 23 minutes on hold with a locksmith but that Deal didn’t like the price the locksmith gave so he denied the services and the amount of money the tow company he called would charge him was too expensive.

Deal was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $20,000 bail. He is expected to appear in court Thursday.
