LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A Valley man in in custody, charged with the murder of a woman who was reported missing last week.

Tuesday morning, police received a call reporting a woman had been missing since August 29th. Officers were dispatched to investigate and learned the missing woman had arranged a ride with a male, later identified as 38-year-old Chuck Chaiyakul, to meet up with the citizen reporting.

The citizen told officers that he received a call from the missing woman as she was en route to his residence where he could hear arguing and what sounded like a struggle. The phone then disconnected and he had not heard from her since.

The victim was identified as 39 year old Jennifer Ratay. Police say Ratay knew Chaiyakul, but the extent of their relationship isn't clear

Missing Persons Detectives responded to the 6700 block of Garden Grove Avenue, near Rainbow and Flamingo, to speak with Chaiyakul and get more information about the woman’s disappearance. Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that the missing woman had been murdered and was still in the residence.

Additional detectives from the LVMPD Homicide Section responded and the missing woman’s body was located inside the garage.

Chaiyakul was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a count of Open Murder. He's being held without bail.
