(LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A small town northwest of Las Vegas is gearing up for massive crowds ahead of two alien-themed festivals next month.
On Monday, Lincoln County commissioners took the first steps in declaring a state of emergency to free up more funding for medical and police resources.
The move came on the same day commissioners approved two permits for 'Alienstock' and 'Peace-Stock 51.' Both events will take place September 20th near the town of Rachel, the closest town to Area 51.
The festivals evolved from a viral Facebook event that encouraged people to storm the famed military base to find proof of aliens.
Even if the festivals draw only a couple of thousand, area residents fear being overrun due to lack of services. Rachel has only one small hotel and it's all booked up. WiFi? Nope.

It's going to be a disaster. https://t.co/Cky8DlyVuM
Nevertheless, people are still trying to profit from the festivals.
