Killers Convicted in Murder Of Matthew Minkler

Henderson PD

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) -  Two teenagers will spend life behind bars for the 2018 murder of seventeen-year-old Matthew Minkler in Henderson.

Nineteen-year-old Kody Harlan and eighteen-year-old Jaiden Caruso were sentenced on Tuesday after they were found guilty in August.  Both will be eligible for parole in twenty-years.

Prosecutors say Caruso, who was sixteen at the time, fired the fatal shot that killed Minkler during a part at an abandoned house. Then they say he took a video of Minkler's body and posted it on Snapchat.  Prosecutors said Harlan, who was seventeen at the time, took cash from the victim's pockets.

Police say the pair later returned to the house where the shooting happened and attempted to clean up the crime scene and hide Minkler's body.

Caruso's attorney acknolwedged that his client owned the gun used in the shooting, but blamed the act on alcohol and drugs for the crime.
