LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Executives with the Las Vegas Monorail say they've secured new funding that will allow for a new stop to be built at Sands Avenue, providing a connection to the nearby Sands Convention Center.

Stops would also be coming to the Venetian and the currently under construction MSG Sphere.

The new funding is coming from Preston Hollow Capital, but the exact amount of the funding hasn't been disclosed.

Monorail officials also say a plan is in the works to create an extension that would go all the way down to Mandalay Bay. Currently the monorail goes as far south as the MGM Grand.

The hope is that the Mandalay Bay extension would be done in time for the debut of the Raiders at the new Allegiant Stadium in August of 2020
