Man Was Suspect In Arson Investigation

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Metro Police shot and killed a man who had taken a hostage in a mobile home park near Nellis Air Force Base Monday morning. 

Officers were conducting an arson investigation in the area, looking for someone reportedly setting fire to cars and trees in the area, when a suspect in the investigation, ran away. Police say as he was running the suspect turned and pointed a gun at police.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside a mobile home with a woman. After awhile, a SWAT team entered the mobile home to rescue the woman, shooting and killing the man in the process. The female hostage wasn’t hurt.

The identity of the man who was killed hasn’t been released.

This is the eleventh officer involved shooting for Metro Police in 2020.
