LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Southern Nevada's about to experience a big change in the weather as we approach the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued both a Wind Advisory and Red Flag Warning for all of southern Nevada until 5 Thursday afternoon.

Winds began to blow pretty hard Wednesday night and are expected to consistently reach 30 mph, with gusts to 50 mph at times.

A Red Flag Warning is issued when high winds combine with dry conditions to present an increased danger of wildfires, and it's been awhile since the Las Vegas area has had much in the way of precipitation.

The gusty winds will also bring in much cooler temperatures for the next couple of days, with highs not expected to get out of the 60s on Thursday and Friday. Following that will be a gradual warmup that will have high temps moving back into the low 80s by the beginning of next week.
