LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Henderson has kept its title of the Fastest Growing City is the nation's Fastest Growing State.

In a study released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, the Las Vegas suburb grew by just over 10,000 residents between July of 2017 and July of 2018, a growth rate of 3.4 percent. By comparison, Las Vegas' population over that time grew by just 1.4 percent. Henderson's population now sits at roughly 310,000 residents, compared with 645,000 for Las Vegas.

A number of factors get credit for the growth. Many moving here from California are attracted to the lower home prices, employment opportunities and an increasing number of amenities like shops and parks. Adding to the optimism for future growth is the construction of of the soon-to-be Las Vegas Raiders' headquarters, as well as a data center for Google.

The only cities in the West that saw a bigger population boom than Henderson, were Denver, San Diego and- with a growth of over 25,000 residents- Phoenix.
