LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A Hawaiian lawmaker who recently tested positive for the coronavirus says he believes he picked it up when he was in Las Vegas last month.

76-year-old State Senator Clarence Nishihara (D) is currently on home confinement. Nishihara stayed downtown at Main Street Station between February 22nd and 25th. He says that after he got back to Hawaii he felt like he was coming down with a cold, but returned to work when he started to feel better.

When symptoms returned, Nishihara says he took the COVID-19 test on March 12th and got a positive result.

The Hawaii State Capitol building is shut down until April 5th.
