LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Layoffs could be coming for furloughed employees at MGM Resorts International.

Officials said in a letter yesterday that they had hoped the company would bounce back by the summer, but the consistent updated outlook for the pandemic has changed the thought process, and some workers may be let go.

MGM Resorts says that while employees who are furloughed face possible layoffs, they will keep their health insurance through August 31st.

MGM recently laid off 4 of their hotel's presidents in a major restructuring move.

Under Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak's "Roadmap To Recovery" plan, major hotels and casinos would be among the last businesses to re-open and there's uncertainty about how much demand there would be to travel in the months after the pandemic eases.
