LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Not that it's been comfortably cool as of late, but the temperatures expected to arrive for the weekend will make the past week seem almost like an Actic blast.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for southern Nevada. The warning begins Thursday morning at 10 and continues until Saturday night at 8.

High temps around Las Vegas are expected to hover between 110 and 115, with some areas of the valley creeping toward (...gulp) 120.

Southern Nevada has had a less than impressive monsoon season so far. Typically for this time of year, we'll feel more humidity, and with that comes a bit of a break from the heat and some pop-up storms.

McCarran Airport recorded a trace of rain last week, breaking a streak of 89 consecutive dry days. Nothing's been seen since.

Temperatures aren't expected to cool off much once the Excessive Heat Warning expires. Sunny skies with highs in the 105-110 range are expected through all of next week.
