LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) – The deadline is fast approaching for Nevada high school seniors to take advantage of the Nevada Promise Scholarship.

New funding for the Nevada Promise Scholarship was approved by the state legislature in June, and helps eligible students pay for up to three years of tuition and mandatory fees at four Nevada colleges.

The colleges taking part in the program are the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, and Western Nevada College.

Interested high school seniors must have their application submitted by October 31st.

For this period, the application process has been made easier.

  • Students only have to apply one time for the scholarship instead of having to re-apply every year
  • The scholarship is open to undocumented students
  • Under certain circumstances students currently receiving the Nevada Promise Scholarship may request a leave of absence
  • Students who have a documented disability and who are actively working with TMCC’s Disability Resource Center may not have to enroll full-time if they qualify
  • Nevada Promise Scholars must complete 8 hours of volunteer service
