Two Separate Stabbings Also Overnight

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Shootings and a standoff headlined a busy weekend for the southern Nevada law enforcement community.

One man is dead and two others critically wounded after a shooting early Saturday in North Las Vegas.

Police say the three men were shot outside of an apartment complex near Cheyenne and Civic Center. According to police, all three victims were taken to a hospital and but one died from his injuries.

The name of the dead man wasn’t immediately released.

Police haven’t released any information yet about what led up to the shooting. 


On Sunday afternoon, an area near the UNLV campus was evacuated due of a standoff.

Police had gone to an apartment complext near Flamingo and Maryland Parkway to serve a suspect with a warrant. The suspect refused to come out of his unit and the standoff was on.

After about 6 hours, the suspect surrendered peacefully. No one was hurt.


Two separate stabbings are also under investigation.

One occurred Sunday night in the northwest near Rainbow and Lake Mead. A man showed up at an apartment, claiming that his girlfriend had stabbed him. First responders took him to the hospital where he's expected to make a full recovery. As of Monday morning, an arrest has yet to be made.

The second stabbing happened early Monday in the northeast near Alexander and Lamb. This incident involved a mother and son.

The woman called police after she said she was awakened by her son trying to stab her. 

She was taken to a hospital in unknown condition while the son was arrested without incident.
