LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The control tower at McCarran Airport re-opened on Wednesday morning after a weeklong closure due to a worker testing positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The airport had been running at a greatly reduced capacity ever since the closure, leading huge delays for both arriving and departing passengers. Southwest and Allegiant Airlines cancelled hundreds of flights due to the closure, including over 700 for Southwest alone.

Airport officials say staffing levels should increase throughout the day on Wednesday.

Even though the tower has re-opened it's still best to check with your airline to get the most reliable arrival and departure information.
