Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Southern Nevada residents were greeted on Monday morning by temperatures we haven't experienced since April - 40s!

Cold winds out of the north started to blow in on Sunday night, making the actual temperature feel even chillier.

The National Weather Service issued a reminder that the strong winds bring with them extreme fire danger, as the region hasn't seen any measurable rain in over 6 months.

High temps aren't expected to get out of the 50s on Monday, but forecasters say that dip is only a temporary taste of winter.

The forecast for the rest of the week shows highs warming back into the 70s by Wednesday, with 80s returning for the weekend
