LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - No charges will be filed against a Nye County deputy who was involved in a February shooting behind the Walmart in Pahrump.

Back on February 26th, Deputy James Ramos was chasing after a man when he fired his gun at the fleeing suspect behind the store. The fleeing suspect wasn't armed.

After the incident, Ramos was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon as well as discharging a weapon where someone might get hut. The Nye County Sheriff's Office said that Ramos' actions violated their policies.

Fast forward to Tuesday where it was decided that Ramos had no "criminal intent" in the shooting.

Though he won't face charges, Ramos remains on paid administrative leave while the department continues to conduct its own internal investigation.
