Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The Clark County School District said Thursday night that some positions could be eliminated if distance learning continues for the rest of the school year.

Nearly 1,400 custodial, bus driver, and school police positions are among those that would potentially be included in a workforce reduction if the District does not transition to face-to-face instruction. The specific responsibilities of these impacted positions are directly related to the physical presence of students and staff in school buildings.

Jobs on the chopping block include custodial, school police and transportation, jobs that are needed when students are attending classes.

CCSD tabled a vote on a hybrid learning plan that would've sent kids back to class on a part-time basis, citing the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Clark County. The matter will be taken up again in January.
